Come On And Get Racing !
Attention new or returning drivers..... the L&OBMBC is in a position to offer you a unique opportunity. We have a selection of equipment that needs to be raced & seen on the water, you get a licence (1/2 price for newcomers & returning drivers who haven't raced for 5 years) & we give you the boat. In return we expect to see the boat raced as much as possible at club & national events. There's a choice of GT-15, GT-30 & OSY. Basic terms & conditions apply.

Great nights training on Monday evening at the club with 2x OSY, 3x GT30 & 1x GT15 drivers all of whom were total novices. We also still have a long list of trainees waiting for their tuition later this season.
A massive well done & thank you to Malcolm Curtis for all his time, effort & dedication to make this happen along with our trainers, rescue & other helpers all who have given up their time today. Let's hope we develop some more new blood into our club, judging by the smiling faces we could well have!!
Race Night 16 Tonight's Winners
The monthly management meeting took place last night with a slightly depleted committee due to holidays & other commitments.
Several subjects were discussed at length & the general feeling is things are going rather well. Our membership numbers are at there highest since the 2012 season, this is something we are proud of as every year since 2012 we have slowly lost members. Last Thursday also saw the largest gate receipts & crowd since August 2012, again this proves our hard work is paying off.
Our training program is going to show its worth very soon as several of our 'trainees' are looking for equipment, this is both juniors & seniors. We are going to be welcoming Carl & Leon Wigg back to the club next who both have boats that are rapidly being prepared, rumour is Tony Knights is also on the look out for a new OSY outfit too.
We talked about the impact of loosing race meetings due to the weather/wind, this is totally out of our control & once the choice is made not to race we have to respect the OOD's decision, financially we have lost a little but safety has to be our priority.
Our officials & rescue crew were also thanked for the professional manner in which the 2 GT class accidents kept them busy last week.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday September the 12th.
Finally this week sees the last Thursday club race of the season, with the cancellations we lost both the Spalding & Percival memorial events so these prestigious trophies will be raced for this week along with the Alan Darby Wicky 1 trophy for hydros, we are hoping for Chris, Alan's grandson & Travis who is Bob Spalding's grandson to attend & present the silverware.
Management Meeting / Report
Well done to all our winners this week. Karon Jude took the Alan Darby Wicky 1 hydroplane trophy presented by Alan's grandson Chris. The junior event went to young Joesph Haylock who certainly got to grips with his sisters L7 boat. Ray Birnie took home the fantastic Tom Percival memorial trophy & finally the Bob Spalding Cup went to Peter Rix, this was presented by Bob's grandson Travis. It was good event & evening & our thanks go out to the Spalding family for attending.
Joseph Haylock raced his sisters L7 boat for the first time to win the penultimate round of the LOBMBC GT Mono championship.

One familiar face missing from the clubhouse in recent weeks is Ron Howes who is convalescing following a fall at home. Ron is the oldest club member having first joined pre-war and raced inboards from 1950-1973.
The club has now been informed that his wife Tot's has died following a long illness. Members may remember her helping out in the canteen on race nights. Funeral arrangements to follow.
